chorlz is a digital media designer, focused on blending vivid imagery of American and internet culture with various themes of the human condition experienced by young adults. These scenes are made through video games, illustrations, animation, music, and so on.
chorlz was originally a gamertag I made back in late 2019, once I decided to start streaming on Twitch. Under that name, I gained a small audience by playing various games and interacting with other streamers. I originally made art under this name too, but in 2024, I decided to make my own dedicated art account, called choscenic. I thought posting my art under the name choscenic would help me focus more on my art, but I found out through practice that doing so limited my view of art as well as my audience. Instead of having two separate accounts, I decided to merge them back together into simply chorlz.
I build this website not just as a showcase of my work, but also as a public journal, and as a way to encourage conversation. When I first started making art back in 2016, I had no idea what I was doing. The only difference now is that I have a slight idea, and that I am doing it at a much larger scale. Through this site, I hope to show and record that it’s alright to work hard on something without having the bigger picture figured out yet.
For all new visitors, whether you are a friend I’ve known for years or a stranger I don’t know yet, thank you so much for visiting my website. It truly means a lot.
Until next time,
chorlz
